- contributes to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the development and improvement of the state policy in the sphere of legal protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights and is directly involved in its implementation;
- develop proposals on improvement of legislation in the sphere of legal protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and in due course submit them for consideration to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- develop proposals for stimulating the creation of innovative technologies and inventions, scientific, technological and industrial development, selection achievements, artistic design, and other types of creative works to ensure their widespread introduction into production, including in the framework of localization projects and modernization of production;
- receive applications for titles of protection for inventions, utility models, industrial designs, selection achievements, trademarks, service marks, appellations of origin, topographies of integrated circuits;
- carries out the state examination of inventions, utility models, industrial designs, selection achievements, trademarks, service marks, appellations of origin, topographies of integrated circuits, sets the priority of the declared objects.

- ensuring the implementation of a unified state policy in the sphere of legal protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, providing legal protection to inventions, industrial designs, utility models, trademarks and other intellectual property rights of holders of intellectual property rights;
- examination and state registration of inventions, utility models, industrial designs and other intellectual property rights;
- all possible assistance in the production of wide introduction of innovative technologies and inventions, scientific, technological and industrial development, selection achievements, artistic design, and other types of creative works;
- Formation of the State Fund of patent documents and a database of officially registered intellectual property rights, providing conditions for their preservation and use;
- the implementation of strict enforcement of the law on legal protection and the protection of intellectual property rights, participation, together with the state authorities to take measures to curb the smuggling of and trafficking in the Republic of counterfeit goods.
